Kitchen Remodel: "American Country"

Design Solution Statement:
The first order of business was to make the space larger. This was accomplished by tearing out the bar and a walk-in pantry on the south side of the kitchen.

Although tearing out a walk-in pantry is usually not a popular thing to do, Ms. Tapp noticed how the client stored her dry goods and felt confident the new design would accomodate those items.

Before remodel: looking at the peninsula

The peninsula was the next thing to go. This now gave the kitchen enough space to design an island, which functions as a separate prep area and a great place for entertaining.

Before remodel: looking into the kitchen
The refrigerator and double ovens really chopped up the countertop area so they were placed together on the new South wall. In their place the new cootop and hood were installed along the west wall.

The sink moved to the left slightly, while the dishwasher was now to the right of the sink adjacent to the new pull out trash. The hardwood floors throughout the space were then patched, making it impossible to tell a peninsula ever existed.

Functional storage devices were encorporated such as: full extension glides, pull up mixer shelf, Lazy Susans, pot and pan drawers, custom drawer dividers, roll outs, cook book cabinet, tilt out/slide out trash, towel rack, spice rack, hanging pan rack, wine glass storage cabinet, and a glass door cabinet for display. New recessed light cans were added as well as under cabinet task lighting.
